This Privacy Policy explains what AI Photo Generator: Retro ("AI Photo", "we", "us", "our") does — and does not do — with your information when you use the app (the "App"). We built the app to be privacy-first.
You can use the app without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
When you create a result, the photo you choose is sent to one third-party AI provider only to generate that one image: Replicate, Inc. (United States), which operates the OpenAI gpt-image-2 model we use — see Replicate's privacy policy and OpenAI's privacy policy. Both are contractually bound to protect the data they process for us.
We do not store your photos on our servers: your photo is held in memory for the seconds the generation takes and discarded when your result is returned. The generated image is kept in server memory for up to 5 minutes, and never written to disk, so that if your connection drops the app can collect the same result without creating (and charging for) a new one; it is then discarded. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we never sell them. The app names this provider and asks you to accept before your first upload; you can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings, which stops all uploads.
We do not run face recognition, we do not create or store a faceprint or any other biometric template, and we do not try to identify who is in a photo. The AI model reads the image only to produce the restyled picture you asked for. The app does check on your device whether a photo contains exactly one clear face, so it can warn you before a generation is wasted — that check runs entirely on your phone using Apple's Vision framework, and nothing from it is uploaded or stored.
The images you save are stored on your device, not on our servers. You can delete them at any time, and deleting the app removes them.
To run the service, prevent abuse and manage subscriptions, our servers store a small amount of non-personal data: an anonymous install identifier; a device-integrity token (Apple App Attest / DeviceCheck) used to prevent abuse and enforce the free tier; a count of generations; your subscription status from Apple; and your photo-credit balance with the Apple transaction identifiers of your purchases, which we use to credit each purchase exactly once and to handle refunds. This data is not linked to your real-world identity and excludes your name, email and photos.
We do not collect your location, contacts or browsing history. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Subscriptions and photo packs are processed by Apple. We verify each purchase with Apple's servers, and Apple notifies our server of renewals, expirations and refunds for this app. We never see or store your payment details.
Camera and photo-library access let you choose a photo to restyle. If you tap Save to Photos, the app asks for add-only access so it can save your result into your photo library; that permission cannot read your library. You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings.
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Uploading a photo of a child is prohibited by our Terms, and our AI provider refuses to process such images.
Photos are not retained — they are processed in memory and discarded immediately. A generated image may stay in server memory for up to 5 minutes for the retry protection described above and is never written to disk. The limited non-personal data above is kept only as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. We take steps to ensure it is protected under applicable data-protection laws.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK) you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. Because we hold no data that identifies you, the practical route is to delete the app and email us at [email protected] if you want the associated usage counters removed.
